Alturas, Cali. -- A woman is in custody for allegedly opening fire during a hearing at a Native American office Thursday, according to Alturas police.
Police said 44 year old Sherie Lash, also known as Sherie Rhoades from Cedarville, California shot four people at the Cedarville Rancheria Tribe Office in Alturas.
According to media reports, the office was holding eviction court when Lash shot and killed four people inside, one person as they ran outside, then pulled out a butcher knife and stabbed a sixth victim.
Police said the deceased victims are a 19 year old female, a 30 year old male, a 45 year old female, and a 50 year old male. Two injured victims were airlifted to area hospitals in critical condition.
Other media outlets reported that one of the victims is the current tribal leader and that the suspect is a former tribal leader.
