An adventure of a life time for a Seattle man headed to the World Cup ends in tragedy here on an Oregon highway
Richard Swanson was on a year long charity walk from Seattle to Sao Paolo, Brazil.
His only companions were a camera and a blue soccer ball.
This morning, Lincoln city police say Swanson was killed when a pickup truck hit him from behind as he walked along the shoulder of highway 101.
His journey was personal as well as charitable and he made friends wherever he went. One of Swanson's sons says he hopes that one day he will be able to complete his father's journey.
