With icy conditions throughout the state, AAA is refreshing drivers on winter driving safety by offering these tips:

Make sure to keep your windows and headlights clear to minimize your blind spots, and help other drivers see you.

Slow down, and leave extra room between your car and the one in front of you.

Check driving conditions and routes before you head out.

Keep an emergency kit in your car that includes blankets, water, matches or a lighter, a candle, shovel, traction mats or sand/gravel, food and chains if you have them.

Also, keeping your tank above half full to both prevent fuel lines freezing and in case you are stuck in the snow you may need to use your gas to idle and heat your vehicle while you wait for help.
