Bonnie Pech woke up with a start around 11:30 Sunday night.

"I was awakened by the lights coming down the road," said Pech.

Those lights were fire trucks responding to flames in the 800 block of Old Trail Creek Road in Trail. The fire completely destroyed a mobile home.

"The property borders my property...it was a frightful night," said Pech.

Neighbors said a woman named Dee lived inside. Fire officials said she was able to get out with her two dogs.

Officials tell NBC 5 the woman was having problems with her ex and she suspects he was involved. Neighbors we spoke with off camera agreed the speculation may have some accuracy, but no one can say for sure at this point. Investigators said they're calling the incident a "suspicious fire."

"We found the exterior of the house, and the deck the porch on fire when we got here which had already spread to the interior of the house," said Fire Chief Bob Miller with Jackson County Fire District 4.

Meantime, neighbors said the woman involved was well-liked.

"She's a very nice person, a good neighbor and she's probably been here about 10-15 years," said Pech.

The home where she lived for all those years, investigators said is now a total loss. The roof collapsed inside, a large piece of burned, bent metal on the ground outside, and the woman's two dogs left roaming the property are all that remain.

NBC 5 couldn't find the woman to ask her questions, but she's said to be uninjured.

Tonight officials with the Oregon State Police and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office continue to investigate.
