Arrest in stabbing of commercial truck driver

Near Ontario, Ore. -- Oregon State Police continue to investigate the stabbing of a commercial truck driver Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred on Interstate 84 about 15 miles west of Ontario.  Authorities say 28 year old Dustin Leroy Rotter pulled up along side the semi-truck driven by 63 year old Charles Vanzante and began ramming it with his car.

Vanzante reportedly pulled over and that's when Rotter got out of his car, entered the truck's cab and allegedly began stabbing Vanzante.

Officers say Rotter then took off up the side of a hill before returning to the truck and struggling with Vanzante again. By this time bystanders surrounded Rotter and convinced him to stay until authorities arrived.

Vanzante's injuries are not expected to be life threatening.
Rotter is being held in the Malheur County Jail on multiple charges including attempted murder.

The Buick he was driving was also reported stolen by a carjacking in Pasco, Washington.
