Eating large amounts of red meat in early adulthood could raise a woman's risk of breast cancer.
Researchers looked at the diet and medical history of over 88,000 pre-menopausal women.
20 years later, statistical models found high red meat consumption was associated with a 22-percent increased risk of breast cancer.
While higher amounts of poultry decreased the risk, experts say young women who replace just one daily serving of red meat with poultry or fish may help lower their odds of developing breast cancer later in life.
