Is the American dream dead for young adults?

A new CNNMoney poll says 63% of 1,003 adults ages 18-34 believe the American dream is unattainable. 6-in-10 say their dreams are out of reach.

"Oh yeah it's changing." Southern Oregon University student Brittany Mccusker said about the prosperity of young adults obtaining their dreams.

"My brother went to college and he didn't know what he wanted to do so he stopped and it was hard for him to get a job."

In a recent class at Southern Oregon University, Mccusker said 90% of her classmates were bogged down with student loans.

"Almost every kid in the classroom raised their hand. It was pretty upsetting."

A recent Fidelity Investments study found 70% of graduating students in 2014 are leaving school with debt. A lot of it averaging more that $35,000.

Fourth-year student, Jenean McGee knows of the financial struggles that she and her classmates face.

"I know I'm in debt but hopefully my education will provide me the  assets to pay off the loans."

While everyone has a different idea of what the American dream is, all the students we talked to feel the same way.

"A degree is better than no degree." Said Mccusker.
