NASA'S Karen Nyberg, a Russian cosmonaut and an Italian astronaut joined the crew of the International Space Station today.

They arrived less than six hours after they lifted off.

The spacecraft orbited the Earth four times before docking with the ISS.

Nyberg and the rest of the new ISS crew will spend the next six months conducting a variety of experiments.

Four spacewalks, including what NASA says will be the first by an Italian, are planned during the expedition.
