Central Point, Ore. -- Several businesses along Table Rock Road say they've noticed fewer people walking through the door and they blame the road work outside. One woman says her business has take a big hit financially since construction began more than a month ago along Table Rock Road..

"we would be packed right now." said Tracy Mullane who is a server at Whiskey River in Central Point.

Jackson County Roads Director, John Vial says the construction will add an extra lane for drivers to turn, thus making the road less dangerous.

"What we've seen is a lot of accidents mostly with people trying to make left turns." Vial said.

Other businesses along the stretch of road which spans between Elmhurst Road and Wilson Road say they too have seen a decline in business.

One employee at the One Stop Market estimates business is down 25% adding that people would rather avoid traffic, passing by their store all together.

The $2.77 million dollar project will include a new traffic signal and pedestrian sidewalks. During most phases, the speed limit will be reduced to 35 MPH until October when the project is expected to wrap up.
