Eugene, Ore. -- The president of the University of Oregon resigned Wednesday. Michael Gottfredson resigned about one and a half months before the start of the school year and a full year short of his initial three-year contract.
In a letter to the newly established UO board of trustees, Gottfredson said he resigned with “mixed emotions."
The board, which only received the power to hire and fire a president on July 1st, scheduled a meeting Thursday at the Ford Alumni Center to discuss "administrative leadership and personnel."
