Walden helps prepare care packages for troops

Medford, Ore. — Some special packages are being prepared in Medford and will be sent to troops stationed in Afghanistan.

Representative Greg Walden made a stop at Wild River in Medford Wednesday to help put together some of those care packages. He assisted Team Overland, a support group for veterans.

Volunteers packed around thirty boxes full of hygiene products, magazines, food and treats to give a taste of home for those serving overseas.

“We are a club full of veterans and civilians working together to help veterans,” says founder of Team Overland, Matthew Havniear. “We know to have a realistic impact on reintegration, we can’t segregate and add to the divide between people that served and people that didn’t.”

Representative Walden presented the group with a flag as a thank you for the important work they do.

Team Overland provides outdoor adventures, helping veterans overcome challenges associated with combat related post traumatic stress disorder.
