Governor Kitzhaber visits incident command for Beaver Complex Fire

Governor Kitzhaber made a visit to incident command at Howard Prairie to get an update on the Beaver Complex fires.

State Fire Marshals and local fire crews debriefed the Governor on progress made fighting the Oregon Fulch Fire just east of Ashland. Last Friday the governor declared a conflagration to release funds used to fight that fire.

Governor Kitzhaber praised the cooperation between Oregon and California crews, "this has been an incredible bi-state response for a very, very complicated, rapidly growing fire and they coordinated their resources, both local state and federal, California and Oregon and got their arms around this. It’s just a remarkable job."

Just today the governor enacted the Conflagration Act for the Rowena fire burning in the Columbia gorge near The Dalles.  That authorizes the state Fire Marshall to send additional firefighting resources.
