Bend man drowns in central Oregon pond

ALFALFA, Ore. -- (KTVZ) Tragedy unfolded yesterday at Reynolds Pond east of Bend as divers searched for and located the body of a 66-year-old Bend man who drowned while swimming at the popular recreation spot south of Alfalfa.

Two men fishing on the shore reported that a swimmer had disappeared from sight and could be in distress and need rescue in the pond.  Several agencies were called in and eventually the Bend Fire Department dive team found the man in the water about 40 minutes after the initial call.

He was identified as Lawrence Domanski of Bend.  An investigation into the drowning is underway.
