ODF working 12-acre fire between Prospect and Butte Falls

Near Prospect, Ore. -- The Oregon Department of Forestry was on scene Tuesday of a wildfire between Prospect and Butte Falls.

The Carney Flat fire has burned 12 acres of timber and fuels since it began May 12th.

Crews say the fire is 96% lined and they were working to mop up hot spots.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Though this fire season has not yet started in Oregon ODF says there have been 75 fires burning nearly 1,700 acres since the first of the year. That's well above average.
