Klamath Falls, Ore. -- Oregon Tech is now the only energy independent campus in the world, using renewable resources.
A ribbon-cutting was held at noon Friday to mark completion of a two megawatt solar energy project.
It also marked the completion of a power plant that taps into geothermal energy to make electricity.
Oregon Tech began using geothermal energy to heat campus buildings back in 1964.
The use of geothermal and solar energy is expected to save the campus about half a million dollars a year.
