Medford, Ore. -- Fire investigators are using heavy machinery to determine what caused a downtown Medford warehouse to burn to the ground Wednesday.
Investigators started with an aerial lift to map out a dis-assembly plan. Wednesday's fire caused the roof to collapse on the historic warehouse which fire officials tell 5 NBC5 news is in extremely poor shape and to dangerous for them to get inside and determine a cause.
Ralph Sartain, an Investigator with Medford Fire & Rescue described the scene. "Because the building was built in 1929, there's no re-enforced walls. If you look at the masonry that had fractured due to the fire. You can see fracture marks all the way through it at any given time the wall sections could give out."
Investigators have not determined a cause but say they plan to gain safe access to the building by tonight.
