Grants Pass, Ore. – A Grants Pass man is on the run after a standoff with police since Wednesday morning.

It all started with a parking complaint of a vehicle on Lower River Road in Grants Pass.

When an officer arrived, the vehicle and a firearm inside it were both determined to have been stolen.

That’s when 34-year-old Ty Nunes ran into a house off of Doneen lane.

That caused the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety to evacuate residents on the block.

The street was closed between Webster Road and Lower River Road Wednesday morning before noon, but most residents have now been sent back home according to GPDPS social media.

A person staying at the house who doesn’t want to be identified says he doesn’t know how Nunez got away.

He also says he was shocked to see the house surrounded by law enforcement.

“My girlfriend and I got up… looked outside and there were two cops with M16’s saying ‘come out to the curb’. And that was at… seven or eight o clock in the morning.”

After getting a search warrant, a SWAT team searched the house looking for Nunes.

During the investigation, two other residents at the house were arrested for drug-related charges.

According to the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety, Nunes has a history with law enforcement and multiple warrants out for his arrest.

At this time, he has not been found.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with further information is encouraged to contact the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety at 541-450-6260.
