Ashlands annual 4th of July parade

ASHLAND, Ore. — Communities across Southern Oregon are prepping for a full day of 4th of July events on Wednesday.

In Ashland, the annual parade kicks off around 10 A.M.  The run begins at 7:45. The celebration continues afterwards in Lithia park with over 100 vendors and a family activity zone.

Returning for their 3rd year is the Firecracker Queens.  The parade’s theme this year is “Empowering wellness through community” and they say they choose to do just that.

“We include everyone. We’re dancing for inclusion, worthiness, respect for each other, and just having a great time,” said Suzanne Mathis Mcqueen of the group.

For the first time, the city of Ashland will be live streaming the event.  Ashland Fiber Network has set up a web-cam along the parade route. You can find the link here.

NBC5 News plans to Facebook live the parade on our KOBI TV NBC Facebook page.
