2-year-old girl found wandering alone in Newport, father arrested

0927-boldragon-plexicoNewport, Ore. – Newport Police said officers were dispatched on Saturday to an area near Southeast Benton and East Olive Streets after they received a report child found wandering alone in a parking lot near the highway.

According to the Newport Police Department, the 2-year-old girl guided an officer back to a seemingly vacant commercial building that she called home.

Police said they found 31-year-old Siletz resident Boldragon Plexico passed out on the floor. Backup was called after an officer saw multiple edged weapons and an empty holster lying around Plexico.

Officers said when backup arrived, Plexico was contacted. He had apparently been lying on a handgun which police were able to secure.

According to NPD, while officers were investigating, Plexico tried to flee and led police on a short foot pursuit. Plexico was tased and taken into custody without further incident.

The investigation determined the 2-year-old was Plexico’s daughter. Officers said there were no injuries to the child, and she was placed in the custody of the Department of Human Services Child Welfare Division until her mother could be contacted.

Plexico was booked into the Lincoln County Jail on charges of burglary, trespassing with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, child neglect, reckless endangering, resisting arrest, escape and two counts of criminal mischief.
