Medford, Ore. — A former Ashland mayor will look to run for the empty state senate seat.
The Jackson County Republican Party said Alan DeBoer is seeking the nomination at Tuesday’s convention at the Inn at the Commons
65-year-old DeBoer is also the Republican nominee for Peter Buckley’s state representative seat.
If he receives the nomination to run Tuesday, Republicans will have to nominate someone else to run for the house seat.
DeBoer spent four years as Ashland Mayor and is the owner of Town and Country Chevrolet.
Tonia Moro will run as the Democrat to replace Bates in November.
