Amazon Prime monthly rate increases $2

SEATTLE, Wash. (CNN) – Amazon has raised its monthly price of Prime service by $2, from $10.99 to $12.99.

The annual membership price remains the same, at $99 a year.

Prime membership includes free two-day shipping.

The monthly customers do not get free access to Amazon Video.

Amazon did not give a specific reason for the price increase, but there’s speculation it is to get more people to sign up for the annual subscription, which now looks like an even better deal.
