An act of generosity

Medford, Ore. — An act of theft in Medford turns into act of generosity by a local police officer. Ethan and Mathew – two brothers, 2nd and 4th grade, who love running around and riding their bikes.

That all changed when they woke up one morning to hear someone had stolen their bicycles. From their back porch.

“Mom said that our bikes were stolen that the lock was cut,” Ethan said.

This wasn’t the first time it had happened.

“It’s heartbreaking when I have to tell my kids their things have been stolen again,” Kristin said, the boys’ mother.

Kristin Flanary’s had to break this kind of news to her sons on more than one occasion.

“In total, there have been two of my youngest sons bikes, three of my oldest sons bikes, my bike, we’ve had skateboards, we’ve had scooters all that stuff,” Kristin said.

But this time was a little different. Kristin called Medford Police to report the theft, and soon got a phone call back from Officer Eric Shepard.

“He told me that him and his wife had made the decision that they wanted to donate their kids’ bike that they no longer were using,” Kristin said.

A surprise for her sons to wake up to.

“It was overwhelming. It was so special,” Kristin said.

While the boys may need to grow into the bikes. They’re happy they can still ride around the neighborhood.
