Asante security breach

Medford, Ore. —  Asante said over 2,000 patient records were compromised in the recent data breach by an employee.

The healthcare provider said 2,400 patient records were inappropriately accessed by an employee. Asante notified patients that may have been impacted earlier this month. They said no financial information was accessed.

Only medical information – such as patient names, dates of birth, imaging, medications, diagnoses and lab results. Asante said the motive for the employee to access sensitive information is unknown, and that employee no longer works for them.

“There’s really not an explanation for that. We have policies and procedures in place. somebody in this case, did breach that and appropriate action was taken,” Lauren Van Sickles said, Asante.

Asante said the information was not misused or will be in the future. They also say they’re “re-training” employees on patient record handling procedure.

If you’re an Asante patient and you still have concerns, Asante said you can contact them through their assistance line at 1-866-273-3971.
