Ashland easing restrictions to help increase housing

ASHLAND, Ore. — The City of Ashland is looking to change some rules to make it easier for people to find housing.

Accessory dwelling units under 500 square feet — that are attached or part of a main structure wouldn’t need to go through a site design review.

Meaning– if someone wanted to convert their basement into an apartment and rent it out, they can, as long as it’s under 500 square feet.

You’ll still need to get building permits before starting any remodels or new construction.
