Ashland prepares for flooding

Ashland, Ore., — The city of Ashland has been preparing all day for potential flooding.

Public Works crews were out checking storm drains, and monitoring the creeks and temperatures today.

they also emptied the reservoir to fifty percent on Friday in preparation.

“We get winter weather every year, the last time we had anything really serious was in ’97 we had also some lesser flooding in ’05, and even last year we had some minor localized flooding we dealt with.” said Public Works Superintendent, Mike Morrison.

The city has sand ready for residents if needed.

It’s not available to the public right now, but officials say that could change tomorrow, depending on the conditions.

The sand is a self serve set-up, and will be located at the “B” street yard on M0ountain Avenue.
