Wanted man Dillon James Gomez

GRANTS PASS, Ore. – Three people were arrested in an attempt to capture an attempted murder suspect in Grants Pass.

On August 14, 34-year-old Eddie Joseph Correia was shot and hospitalized with unspecified injuries. Police believe Correia assaulted a man at a Wimer market four days prior.

The next day, Oregon State Police identified 25-year-old Dillon James Gomez as a person of interest in the shooting of Correia. Gomez was reportedly armed and dangerous.

According to the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety, at 3:22 p.m. on the 15th, officers learned Gomez was reportedly spotted at an address in the 1400 block of Blake Court in Grants Pass.

Officers said they surrounded the location and asked the occupants to come out. Several people exited the residence, which was a living area above a large garage. However, officers believed there were still people inside.

Due to the heightened threat level, Grants Pass SWAT was activated. Police said they used diversion devices and chemical munitions in an attempt to get the occupants out of the building. Eventually, one man exited the residence and was taken into custody.

The people who came out of the building told officers Gomez was still inside. That’s when Oregon State Police’s SWAT was called for assistance.

GPDPS said eventually, they determined Gomez was not inside the residence. His whereabouts are unknown and police said they’re asking for the public to remain vigilant.

Citizens are urged not to attempt to contact or detain Gomez if they see him. Instead, call 911.

33-year-old Megdelano Thomas Torres, 27-year-old Beau Joseph Burt and 24-year-old Amanda Nochole Gerken were all arrested during the incident and lodged in the Josephine County Jail.
