Bank robbery in downtown Ashland

Update (03/16/17 10:00 a.m.) — Police arrested the alleged bank robber, identified as 41-year-old David Dean Johnson. He was taken into custody at around 5:30 Wednesday evening at the Cedarwood Inn.


Ashland, Ore. – Police are investigating after an Ashland bank was robbed Wednesday morning.

Ashland Police Chief Tighe O’Meara said the Wells Fargo Bank on Main Street in downtown Ashland was robbed at around 11:25 a.m.

According to police, no weapon was presented and the tellers are okay.

Police are searching for a 5’7” white man in his 20s wearing a black flat brimmed hat with the rim flipped up and a band-aid under one of his eyes.

As of 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, the bank was closed. Affected customers can access the ATMs or visit the nearest Wells Fargo branch in Phoenix.Anyone with information is asked to call police.
