Bank robbery suspect caught

Michael Thomas BartonUpdate (03/02 6:15pm) — Medford Police have identified the suspect in Wednesday’s Wells Fargo Bank robbery as 52-year-old Michael Thomas Barton, of Medford. Officers say he has been charged with two counts of robbery in the first degree. His bail has been set to $2 million.

Officers say the knife and all of the money have been recovered.


Medford, Ore. — Medford Police caught a bank robbery suspect within minutes of the crime.

Police say the suspect pulled out a knife at the Wells Fargo Bank branch at the corner of Riverside and Barnett late Wednesday afternoon.

Medford Police tell NBC5 news the suspect is in custody. An officer was at the intersection and drove into the parking lot, catching the suspect as he was leaving the bank.
