Bottle deposit rates rise April 1st

Medford, Ore.– Starting April 1st, Oregonians can get double the money back for recycling bottles and cans at redemption sites.  The measure was signed by Governor Kate Brown and makes bottles and cans now worth 10 cents instead of five.

Representatives from bottle drop say their kiosks are in more than 2,600 stores in the state.  It will take their employees all day March 31st to re-program the bottle drop stands to credit customers 10 cents.

There is a 350 bottle per-person, per-day limit at drop facilities. Oregon was the first state to introduce the bottle refund back in 1971.
