Medford, Ore., — Beginning today — your bottles and cans are worth double the deposit.
The measure was signed by Governor Kate Brown, and makes returning bottles and cans now worth 10 cents each instead of five.
Bottle Drop in Medford had a line out the door with people waiting to drop their bottles and cans on the first day today.
“I am happy about that because — you’re using the cans anyway? Because these are all cans we had before the 10 cent law came into effect!” said one customer, Derrick Purl.
There is a 350 bottle per person, per day limit at drop facilities.
Oregon was the first state to introduce the bottle refund back in 1971.
