Breast Cancer Awareness: Jeanna’s story

Medford, Ore.–  “You know people talk about soul mates, I know that he came in a time in my life when we were supposed to be together.”

Jeanna and Brian Lambert got married three years ago.

“It was an amazing day.  We got married on the beach and we had all the people we love around us,” says Jeanna.

It’s a memory that still puts a sparkle in her and her husband’s eyes and a smile on their faces.  What they didn’t know that late August day, they were about to embark on another journey this one not as blissful.

“Came home on Wednesday and was sitting on the couch with my husband and my kids and I found a lump,” Jeanna explains.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer just six months after saying “I do.”

“I was terrified that I was going to lose her,” Brian says.

What’s more, just days before she found the lump Jeanna said goodbye to her mother who had been fighting her own battle with breast cancer for years.  She didn’t waste time coming up with a plan to fight back.  A mastectomy, chemo, and radiation.

“I had moments where I was miserable and in a lot of pain, but I never felt like I wouldn’t make it through, I just never did.”

Her husband Brian by her side.

“He would drop everything to be there,” Jeanna says with a smile on her face.

Even turning chemo treatments into their date nights.

“We would choose a movie and we’d eat snacks and sometimes I’d fall asleep,” she laughs.

Now cancer free and back to life as normal, Jeanna says it was her husband’s love that helped her though.

“I’m thankful for my husband everyday, everyday,” Jeanna says.
