Britt Music Festival

Jacksonville, Ore., — The first concert of the season at the Britt Festival in Jacksonville just wrapped up for the night.

It was pouring rain, but that didn’t seem to stop anyone. “Slightly Stoopid” was the main act and it drew in a crowd of over two thousand people.

“Slightly Stoopid” is one of my favorite reggae bands.” said one concert goer, Zack Doggett.

More than two thousand people braved the rain for the opening night of the Britt Festival summer series.

“We’re really excited to start it off with a great sold out show, it’s kind of a crowd that has a cult following with this band so should be full of young people and dancing and having a great time.” said the festival’s marketing director, Sara King Cole.

The reggae – rock combination of artists Slightly Stoopid, Soja, Zion I and Eli and The Grouch brought out crowds from all over the Rogue Valley.

“Getting to see someone I’ve known for a while, most of the bands I see are local bands so this is a bigger deal,” said another concert goer, Joslyn Teska.

Doggett said his favorite part is, “Just the vibe here in Jacksonville to be honest, everyone here is super cool and the rain kind of mellows it out so it’s not super hot, just perfect.”

And businesses couldn’t be happier about the added income its bringing for them.

“It’s really good for us, I mean it makes a big difference for our year, it helps us through the slower winter months and it’s something we all look forward to,” said Bella Union owner Christian Hamilton.

The festival continues all summer into September with a total of 38 concerts with artists like Pat Benetar, Gavin Degraw and Three Doors Down.
