California murder suspect found in Grants Pass

Grants Pass, Ore.- A man suspected in the death of a Huntington Beach, California woman turned himself in to authorities Saturday, Dec. 3.

Friday, Dec. 2, Grants Pass Department of Public Safety was notified Jason Becher may be in the area. He’s suspected in the murder of 50-year-old Marylou Sarkissian. The cause of her death has not been released.

According to the L.A. Times, Sarkissian was a mother of three and Becher’s former girlfriend. The Orange County district attorney’s office said Becher will be charged with a special-circumstances sentencing enhancement of lying in wait. If convicted, he would face a minimum sentence of life in state prison without possibility of parole, according to the district attorney’s office.

After Becher turned himself in, detectives from Huntington Beach Police Department traveled to Grants Pass to question him. Becher is currently lodged at Josephine County Jail as he awaits extradition to California.
