California’s Dixie Fire approaches 490,000 acres in size

PLUMAS COUNTY, Calif (KNVN) – Wildfires continue burning in Northern California, scorching many communities.

The Dixie Fire in Plumas County north of Sacramento has been burning for nearly a month.

So far it’s burned more than 489,000 acres, destroying more than 500 structures and damaging dozens more.

More than 13,000 structures are still threatened.

Officials say the fire is only 21 percent contained.

The Dixie Fire is now the second-largest wildland fire in California’s history
