Campaign 2016: The end is near

1008-voting-line(NBC News) — Lines formed early across the country Tuesday as voters turned out in force.

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton greeted supporters outside her polling place in Chappaqua, New York.

“So many people are counting on the outcome of this election, what it means for our country,  and I’ll do the very best I can if I am fortunate enough to win today,” Clinton said.

In a reminder a Clinton win would make history, people flocked to the grave of Susan B. Anthony in Rochester, New York, slapping “I Voted” stickers on the headstone of the leader of the fight for the right of women to vote, granted in 1920.

Donald Trump cast his ballot at a public school in New York this morning.

“It’s looking very good – right now – its looking very good,” he said afterward.

With complaints and concerns about the integrity of this election, the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division is sending out more than 500 election monitors.  They’re watching polls in 28 states to make sure every vote counts.
