Car theft in Medford

14479610_548193525387898_3395777553218528010_nMedford, Ore., — Police describe a Medford man’s car theft as a Grand Theft Auto attempt, landing him in jail and leaving properties damaged.

Medford Police say 22-year-old Robert Simpson stole a GMC black Denali from Heritage Motors before taking it for a joy ride on Summit Avenue Friday morning.

Simpson not only damaged at least two properties in the neighborhood, but also city power lines.

Police say when Simpson stopped driving, he and four other people jumped out of the car and fled on foot.

Simpson and one other person were caught.

He is being charged with criminal mischief and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
