CDC recorded 80,000 flu deaths in 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NBC) – Last year’s flu season was the deadliest one in decades.

In an interview with the Associated Press, the director of the CDC said an estimated 80,000 Americans died from the flu, including 180 kids.

That’s the most in at least four decades.

Approximately 12,000 to 56,000 people die from the flu in an average year.

The CDC said 80% of the children who died from the flu were not vaccinated.
