Central Point commemorates veterans

Central Point, Ore. —  Earlier on Friday, Central Point held a Veteran’s Day celebration of their own. Central Point Parks and Recreation hosted a commemoration Friday morning, with veterans in the community as well as active duty military attending.

The annual event was held at Don Jones Memorial Park, dedicated to honoring and remembering fallen heroes of the community.

The commemoration featured a color guard, an invocation as well as speakers from the southern Oregon community. Some of which you may recognize from the oregon state house of representatives.

“It gives an opportunity to profess that if you enjoy your freedoms, you better thank a veteran because a veteran is the one that’s been preserving those freedoms since we at this nation was first founded,” said State Representative Sal Esquivel.

State Representative Duane Stark also spoke at the event. The commemoration in central point was just one of the many veteran’s day celebrations in the Rogue Valley.
