Chimney Fire consumes more homes

NC_firehomes0824_1500x845South Shore Village, Calif. (KSBY) — Crews have been working around the clock to protect what homes they can in Lake Nacimiento’s South Shore Village neighborhood, where flames consumed several homes Monday.

Chimney Fire Public Information Officer Mark Beveridge says the fire line surpassed a dozer line Monday. Crews rushed in to battle flames from the spot fire, which hooked around the South Shore Village area and claimed a number of structures.

“It did actually get into an area that we thought we had protected, but the fire did something. It’s kind of an erratic fire at this point, with the winds and everything else,” Beveridge said. “Crews have been out there for 24 hours since the fire started. They will continue to be out there for 24 hours to mop up any area and take care of any spot fires that start.”
