City moves forward with utility increase

MEDFORD, Ore. — Medford’s city council voted on a utility bill increase that would go into effect this summer.

Councilors discussed sewer collection, storm drain, and street maintenance fees.

City staff previously stated that a typical single-family home would see about a $7 increase in their city utility fee.

While people may not want to see higher bills, the city says it will save residents in the long run.

Councilors voted tonight to move forward with the increase, pending a second reading.
