Clackamas County deputy shot

1115-clackamas-county-crime-sceneHappy Valley, Ore. – A Clackamas County sheriff’s deputy was shot and wounded during a civilian ride-along early Tuesday morning in the area of Southeast 139th and Sunnyside.

Portland NBC affiliate KGW reports when the deputy arrived on scene he found a man in the roadway. A fight broke out between the two, and the man who had reportedly been hit pulled out a gun and shot the deputy in the leg.

Several citizens helped the deputy during the fight, including the ride-along passenger. The suspect was eventually detained.

Police said the deputy was taken to the hospital and is currently in stable condition. The suspect was hospitalized with unspecified injuries.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said the deputy was contracted to the Happy Valley Police Department. They have not released the identity of the deputy or suspect.
