Cleanup continues at Lake Oroville Spillway

Oroville, Calif. – Crews are continuing clean up and repairs at Lake Oroville as outflows once again matched inflows Wednesday.

Sacrament NBC affiliate KCRA reports over 600,000 cubic yards of debris have been removed from the diversion pool below the broken spillway, allowing California Department of Water Resources officials to reopen a portion of the Hyatt Power Plant, which allows some water to be released from the lake.

Operations to remove material and repair the main spillway are ongoing 24 hours a day, according to DWR.

Officials stopped the flow from the damaged spillway at the end of February to allow crews access.

DWR said the goal is to get the Hyatt Power Plant up and running so water releases could begin in case of another weather event and ahead of snow runoff.
