Climber rescued from slopes of Mount Hood

MOUNT HOOD, Ore. (KGW/NBCNC) – A climber who planned to end his own life and six rescuers were airlifted from Mount Hood this Friday afternoon in Oregon.

Officials say the climber had gone to the summit to end his life but changed his mind.

He was unable to get down the mountain without assistance.

Six people with Portland Mountain Rescue kept the climber company until a helicopter crew arrived.

The climber’s name has not been released.
