Clinton addresses email scandal

NC_politicspm0805_1500x845(NBC News) — Both presidential candidates are being questioned on their truthfulness Friday as Hillary Clinton faced reporters and Donald Trump did an about-face on Twitter.

Clinton’s lead in the polls has expanded in the past few days, but in Washington today, reporters questioned her about the emails that have followed her through her campaign.

She declared she’s been truthful to the FBI about her private email server and when asked her reaction to voters who say they mistrust her, she said she knows she has work to do.

Meanwhile, Trump backtracked on Twitter, admitting that something he told his supporters was in fact not true.

He claimed at rallies Thursday that he watched video of Americans delivering $400 million to Iran before a release of American captives, even though no such footage exists.

Trump tweeted today: “The plane I saw on television was the hostage plane in Geneva, Switzerland, not the plane carrying $400 million in cash going to Iran!”
