0428 KF Veteran housing Victory CommonsKlamath Falls, Ore. — Construction is now underway on a $2 million veteran’s housing project in Klamath Falls.

“Victory Commons” is being built on Michigan Avenue near Main Street.

Retired vet Robert Benjamin hopes to be one of the first residents. He said, “The main thing I’m interested in is the opportunity to live amongst a little community, for everybody to get to know each other, sort of grow here together.”

Rick Sonerholm with the Klamath Housing Authority said, “There’s going to be ten 1-bedroom units, plus a community center, and it will be quality housing. We want people to be able to enjoy where they live, and feel good about it.”

The project is funded through a grant from Oregon Housing and Community Services. Workers hope to have the facility open by late fall.
