Controlled burn in the Ashland Watershed

Ashland, Ore. – A column of smoke rose above the Ashland Watershed Tuesday during a controlled burn Tuesday.

The U.S. Forest Service and Ashland Forest Resiliency said the underburn near No Candies Trail will be on roughly 61 acres.

Officials said a large crew is manning the burn, with supervisors monitoring weather patterns to ensure smoke doesn’t move into town. However, citizens may smell light smoke at times.

The burn is intended to reduce fuels ahead of the summer wildfire season.
