Controlled burns northwest of Klamath Falls to commence Friday

KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. – Smoke from several controlled burns is expected to be seen rising in Klamath County starting Friday.

The South Central Oregon Fire Management Partnership (SCOFMP) said fire operations on prescribed burns northwest of Klamath Falls will begin on May 3 with smoke visible for 3-7 days.

The three burns are located between 23 and 30 miles from town along Highway 140.

In total, crews plan to burn about 351 acres.
