Medford, Ore. — Medford Police say they rarely have problems with Craigslist sales–besides scams. But a carjacking this weekend has some concerned.
Saturday night police say 21-year-old Jorge Serna responded to a Craigslist ad for a car.
He met the owner to check out the car at a pre-arranged spot, but then drove another area with the owner after arriving. When the car was parked, police say Serna brought out a gun and told the owner to get out of the car and drove away.
Oregon State Police found the car a short time later and arrested Serna.
Here are some tips from Craigslist. To make sure you don’t put yourself in dangerous situations.
- Meet in a public place.
- Don’t invite strangers into your home.
- Tell someone where you’re going.
- Consider bringing someone else with you.
- Trust your instincts.
