Crash closes Highway 97 north of Klamath Falls

UPDATE (8:47 p.m.) – Oregon State Police say 63 year old Gregory Guidi from Klamath Falls died when his vehicle collided head-on with a Dodge Ram.

Police say they do not know why Guidi traveled into the oncoming traffic near milepost 259 on Highway 97 Friday, June 30th.

In the Dodge, 51 year old Robert Hougen and and 53 year old Phyllis Hougen were also both seriously injured and transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center.

Police say drugs were not a factor, but they are investigating if seat belts were being used.

The highway was closed for three and half hours following the crash.

Klamath Falls, Ore. – Both lanes of Highway 97 were closed due to a crash near milepost 259 Friday afternoon.

The crash is backing up traffic 15 miles north of Klamath Falls.

According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, northbound traffic is being turned around near Shady Pine.
