Jackson County, Ore. — A fire near Mount Ashland is contained before spreading out of control.
The Oregon Department of forestry told NBC5 the Cottonwood Creek fire started at about 12:30 Wednesday afternoon near the Mount Ashland ski road.
By 2:00p.m. ODF ground crews were able to make a line around the ¾-acre fire.
ODF had one helicopter as well as assistance by four different aircraft from the U.S. Forest Service.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
